What inspired you to take part in Your Shot?
We wanted try something new, something different from just DJing at house parties.

Tell us about your favourite memory from the Your Shot program.
Going to DJ Warehouse and learning the basics from Master A-Tonez.

Describe the feeling when you were announced as the winners of Your Shot Sydney lat year.
The feeling when we were announced winners was beyond words. We didn't really know what to do. It was unbelievable!

What has been the highlight of your DJ careers?
Playing at the Circus Records Party at the Metro Theatre, right after Doctor P to a full house of over 1200 bass fans.

Top 5 tunes at the moment.
1. Culprate - Hall of Mirrors
2. D-jahsta, 12 Gauge & Sadhu - Baptism of Fire
3. Emalkay - Fabrication
4. Carvar & Clock - Miskatonik
5. Twofold - Ordnance

If you weren't Djing you would be.
Probably still wishing we could Dj at a Dubstep club.

Ahead of the Brisbane Rego Day this weekend, we caught up with Suspect. A participant in the first Brisbane Your Shot in 2011, Suspect plays regularly at Brisbanes best night spots aswel as running his own events.

Tell us about your favourite memory from the Your Shot program.
My favorite memory would have to be the first day of training. I met some incredible people and my life had changed. It's where everything started!

What inspired you to take part in Your Shot?
What inspired me to take part was a good friend of mine, he had been a DJ for a few years and I had always wanted to begin but just didn't know where to begin so when the opportunity came I took it!

What was the most valuable lesson you learned at YS Training?
The most valuable lesson from Your Shot training would have to be everything Wal taught me on the decks, ive seen that being taught professionally you pick up the right tricks of trade rather getting into bad habits

How did YS change your life?
Your Shot has changed my life in every aspect, I'm in an amazing relationship with another Your Shot contestant, I no longer work as I DJ full time. All in all, Your Shot has made me a better person.

Where is your favourite place to play?
My favorite place to play would have to be the Family and The Squeeze. I've played both levels of Family & Squeeze and it is definitely something you want to work towards. It is absolutely amazing!

What has been the highlight of your DJ career?
The highlight of my career thus far would actually have to be my production, I am incredibly happy with how its going and I have my first track being released very soon

Top 5 tunes at the moment.
Vago - Nari & Malini
Slow down - Showtek
Saturn - Kill the Noise (Jay cosmic remix)
Easy - Porter Robinson (botnek remix)
Armin Van Buuren & W&W - D#Fat

Today we bring you an interview with 2012 contestant, Mark Haider.
Mark has been producing music for some time now and took up the Your Shot challenge to further his technical DJ skills and gain exposure in new markets, check out what he had to say.

Tell us about your favourite memory from the Your Shot program.
I cant really pin point it to one memory. The whole experience is one great memory. BUT! One of my favourite memories would have to be the two performance days. Early morning travel for me and Steve's hype up messages made me feel like I was on my way to perform in a huge arena. AH! And I cant forget all the support from the Your Shot crew

What inspired you to take part in Your Shot?
I've been part of the whole music thing for a long time, having studied music as well as being a producer. So for me, Your Shot was my chance to let people know who I was and what I do.

What are some words of wisdom for people looking to break into the DJ world?
As cliche as this sounds.. Be you! Your uniqueness will show through your work. Have mentors and inspirations, but allow yourself to selflessly express yourself in what you do. Support your fellow DJs and artists. We are all one big family, so embrace it.

Who is your biggest musical influence?
I actually have a few. These artists I either look up to based on their talent, their personality and just how they present themselves to the public. Top of my list is Deadmau5. He is one person that I have looked up to since the beginning. He embodies what it means to be true to yourself despite whatever is going on. Another main musical influence for me is Skrillex. Musically, he is a genius and I've been playing his music since the days when he was in his band. I used to perform his songs on the guitar for my assessments [hahaha].

Where can we hear more from Mark Haider?
If it's online media, I'm everywhere!
Catch me on Beatport, Soundcloud, Facebook, Twitter… and anything else you can think of
This Year is a very busy year for me production wise with multiple remixes and originals dropping throughout on some really reputable and great labels. I give out a lot of free stuff too!!

Top 5 tunes at the moment..
At the moment I'm loving a mixture..
Jacob Van Hage - Crank (Original Mix)
Showtek, Noisecontrollers - Get Loose (Tiesto Remix)
Knife Party - EDM Death Machine (Original Mix)
New World Sound, Ryan Kristo - Cube (Original Mix)
Daft Punk Feat. Pharrell Williams - Get Lucky… Cant stop grooving to this!

In the lead up to 2013 we'll be getting inside the heads of some of our past contestants to find out what they're up to and hear a little about their Your Shot experience.

First up we have Mikki Blue, one half Boats & Hoes, the QLD champions from 2012.

Tell us about your favourite memory from the Your Shot programme:
The end of the first set we played in the heats! After more than 6 weeks of preparation and anticipation for that 20 minute moment, I was very happy to have successfully made it through our set without blowing anything up.

What inspired you to take part in Your Shot?
Money and b*tches! Kidding. Before moving to Australia, I spent some time at Uni studying music. I can’t get funding to do it over here, so when I stumbled across Your Shot, I thought it would be a good music fix! I was completely oblivious at the time as to how huge the competition is.

Got any tips for this years contestants?
Listen to Steve when he gives you his “be-yourself-no-regrets-best-weeks-of-your-life” speeches. Milk every second of the experience because you will 150% wish you could do it again. Also, make sure you get work off after the event days. Don’t drink too many Agwa bombs. And Steve loves receiving drunk texts.

Where is your favourite place to play?
I have a lot, but if I had to pick one, probably The Met. I have some awesome memories there including playing on NYE. Lots of bass, at midnight, to a room packed with our friends! Also, Eatons Hill Hotel. Such a ridiculous venue and they seriously know how to throw a party.

Top 5 tunes at the moment..
In no particular order:
Don’t Go - Dusky
Taito – Mord Fustang
Youngstas - Nightmare x Spol
PAWG - Tony Junior
Jet Blue Jet – Major Lazer

If you weren't Djing you would be..
Seeing a lot less sunrises.
